Commissioner Malakand chairs meeting on forest fire prevention

A meeting was held at the Commissioner Office in Saidu Sharif, chaired by Commissioner Malakand Division Shahidullah Khan, to review and discuss measures related to the prevention of forest fires and accidents.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioners of Malakand Division, District Police Officers, Chief Conservator of Forests and Conservators of Malakand Region, and other relevant officials.

Increasing Forest Fires Due to Climate Change Requires Early Action

Commissioner Shahidullah Khan highlighted the increasing number of forest fires due to climate change, emphasizing the need for early action at the district and tehsil level to prevent such incidents.

The provincial government has already sent rules and regulations to relevant institutions for implementation to protect forests.

Comprehensive Plan for Summer Months Required

Commissioner Malakand issued orders to all Deputy Commissioners to hold meetings at the district level and develop a comprehensive plan for the upcoming summer months in collaboration with relevant institutions.

The role of district administration, police, forest department, rescue 1122, and civil defense was deemed crucial in preventing and managing forest fires.

Formation of Committees and Legal Action

Commissioner Malakand directed Deputy Commissioners to form committees at the tehsil level under the chairmanship of the concerned Assistant Commissioner and submit a report within one month.

Additionally, legal action was to be taken against those involved in fire incidents.
