Child abuse cases increased by 159% in federal capital in 2019

The federal capital reportedly witnessed 159 percent increase in child abuse cases in 2019.

There is 38 percent increase in violence against women as 109 cases were reported against 79 cases in 2018. However, overall rime ratio has been decreased upto 8 percent as compared to 2018.

According to data availed from Islamabad Police through Right to Information by Sustainable Social Development Organization (SSDO), shows that more than 57 cases of child abuse were reported in the federal capital. There were 22 cases of the child abuse in the year of 2018.

City also experiences 38 percent increase in cases of violence against women

Out of the 57 cases, 38 victims were boys while rest were 9 girls who were sexually abused. A girl named Farishta Mohmand was murdered after sexually abused.

There are still cases that were not reported related to child abuse and domestic violence, shows statistics.

The cases of violence against women were increased 38 percent as compared to 2018. There were 79 cases in 2018 while there were 109 in 2019. The cases were 43 cases of violence, 31 cases of women kidnapping and 35 cases of rape.

This scribe made several attempts to speak to police officials on the increase of cases against children and women. However, no official is ready to talk after issuing a notification issued by the establishment division which have bared the government officials to give any version to the media persons without prior permission.
