BAHAWALPUR: A lioness named Morni has died under mysterious circumstances at Sher Bagh Zoo in Bahawalpur.
According to the zoo administration, the lioness was healthy but suddenly collapsed, lost consciousness, and died.
Experts believe Morni’s sudden death was possibly caused by cardiac arrest resulting from heatstroke. Zoo sources said the lioness appeared completely healthy until 11 a.m., after which she suddenly fell and died.
A veterinary doctor posted at the zoo examined the animal and declared it dead.
Following a post-mortem examination, the lioness was buried within the zoo premises.
Experts have also expressed concerns that Morni’s sudden death may have been linked to inadequate measures in the lion enclosures at the zoo.
After the death of Morni, the total number of lions at Sher Bagh Zoo has been reduced to 18.
