Judicial Commission Approves Transfers of Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiani and Justice Babar Sattar from Islamabad High Court

The Judicial Commission of Pakistan, under the chairmanship of Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Yahya Afridi, has approved the transfers of several high court judges.

The meeting, which was focused on judicial transfers, saw the approval of Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiani’s transfer to the Lahore High Court. The decision was made by a majority vote, with nine members of the commission in favor of the move.

Additionally, Justice Summaira Rafat Imtiaz’s transfer to the Sindh High Court was also approved by a majority vote.

In a notable development, Justice Babar Sattar of the Islamabad High Court has been transferred to the Peshawar High Court. However, the decision regarding his transfer faced some opposition, with three votes against it.

Justice Sattar had previously written a letter to Chief Justice Yahya Afridi, asserting that according to Article 200 of the Constitution, a judge must be personally heard before any transfer decision is made. Justice Sattar had requested the commission provide him with an opportunity to present his views on the matter before making a final decision.

Furthermore, the commission members decided to withdraw the recommendations for the transfers of Justice Sarfraz Dogar, Justice Arbab Tahir, and Justice Khadim Somro, effectively postponing any decisions on their transfers for the time being.
