Inquiry Initiated Against Medical Superintendent THQ Hospital Jaranwala
Lahore:
The District Health Officer (DHO) has launched an inquiry against Dr. Qurban Ali, the Medical Superintendent of THQ Hospital Jaranwala, for reportedly operating a private hospital without proper registration.
The inquiry stems from a complaint filed by citizen Rana Muhammad Azam to the Chief Officer of Health, Faisalabad. In his complaint, Azam alleges that Dr. Qurban Ali is running a private hospital named Ahad Ali Hospital on Faisalabad Road in Jhal without the necessary registration.
Furthermore, Azam claims that despite previous notices issued by the Health Department to the hospital, no further action has been taken due to the influence of Dr. Qurban Ali and Dr. Rubina Ali Rana. He also accuses the hospital of conducting operations without adhering to safety protocols.
Azam has urged authorities to seal the hospital and take legal action against Dr. Qurban Ali for operating the private hospital unlawfully. The complaint was lodged on February 29, 2024.
In response to the complaint, the District Health Officer has appointed Azmat Chichi as the inquiry officer to investigate the allegations against Dr. Qurban Ali.
When contacted for comment, Dr. Qurban Ali refuted the allegations, labeling the complainant as a habitual filer of baseless complaints. He stated that his lack of “None practicing allowance” since 2010 does not prohibit him from engaging in private practice. However, he claimed that due to his busy professional schedule, he has not been actively practicing privately.
Dr. Qurban Ali currently serves as the Medical Superintendent at Tehsil Headquarter Hospital Jaranwala, while Dr. Rubina Ali is employed in the Social Security Office as a government employee.
Efforts to reach Health Minister Punjab Khawaja Imran Nazeer for comment were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
