Imran Khan Calls for “Jail Bharo” Movement
Imran Khan, the chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has called for a “Jail Bharo” movement across the country.
This comes after the sedition cases were filed against members of his party, including Senior Vice-President Fawad Chaudhry and former National Assembly member Shandana Gulzar.
Khan addressed the nation on television, explaining that his party considered a nationwide strike, but feared further harm to the struggling economy.
He emphasized that PTI will not remain silent on the violence being inflicted on its members and instead will prepare for the “Jail Bharo” movement.
Khan criticized the current government for human rights violations, including torture, and accused them of weakening PTI through threats and intimidation.
Khan criticized the current government led by the Pakistan Democratic Movement, accusing them of committing atrocities and human rights violations that his own party did not do during their tenure.
He specifically cited the cases against Fawad Chaudhry, Shandana Gulzar, and Shehbaz Gill, and the attempted assassination on himself.
He expressed frustration over not being able to register the FIR of his choice and the large number of FIRs filed against him. The former Prime Minister also criticized the PDM government for the skyrocketing dollar rates and their inability to control it.
