NA Defence Committee lauds armed forces, backs Pakistan Airports Authority Amendment Bill 2026

Committee praises PM Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir for mediating between the US and Iran, says diplomacy helped avert potential global conflict.

The NA Standing Committee on Defence, extends felicitations to the nation and the Armed Forces for commemorating the historic victories of Marka-e-Haq and Bunyan-ul-Marsoos claiming that these landmark triumphs not only strengthened Pakistan’s defence credentials but also elevated the country’s stature and prestige at the international level.
commends the statesmanship of the Prime Minister and the Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for their pivotal role in mediating between the United States of America (USA) and the Islamic Republic of Iran which led averting the outbreak of a potential global conflict, thereby safeguarding international peace and stability;
pays tribute to the martyrs of the Armed Forces; and
unanimously recommends that the National Assembly to pass “The Pakistan Airports Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2026”.
The Standing Committee on Defence, met today in the Parliament House Islamabad under the Chairmanship of Mr. Fateh Ullah Khan, MNA.
During the meeting, the Committee unanimously extended its felicitations to the nation and the Armed Forces on the commemoration of the historic victories of Marka-e-Haq and Bunyan-ul-Marsoos. The Committee held that these landmark triumphs, achieved through courage, resilience, and strategic brilliance, not only fortified Pakistan’s defence credentials but also elevated the country’s stature and prestige within the comity of nations. The Committee underscored that such victories serve as enduring reminders of the Armed Forces’ unwavering commitment to safeguarding national sovereignty and dignity.
The Committee further commended the statesmanship of the Prime Minister and the distinguished leadership of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for their pivotal role in mediating between the United States of America (USA) and the Islamic Republic of Iran. The Committee acknowledged that their responsible and timely intervention was recognized as a decisive diplomatic achievement that averted the outbreak of a potential global conflict. By steering both nations away from confrontation, Pakistan’s leadership contributed meaningfully to the preservation of international peace and stability, thereby reinforcing the country’s image as a responsible and peace-loving state.
In a solemn gesture, the Committee paid glowing tribute to the martyrs of the Armed Forces who embraced the ultimate sacrifice in defence of Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. It acknowledged that their valor and devotion remain the bedrock of the nation’s security. Special prayers were offered for the families of the martyrs, with deep appreciation for their enduring sacrifices that continue to inspire the nation and strengthen its resolve against all challenges.
After comprehensive deliberations, the Committee unanimously recommended that the National Assembly may pass “The Pakistan Airports Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2026”. The Committee emphasized that the proposed legislation holds national significance, as it will modernize Pakistan’s aviation infrastructure, enhance regulatory oversight, and contribute to the country’s economic development and global connectivity.
The meeting was attended by the Members of the National Assembly, including Mr. Ibrar Ahmad, Mr. Daniyal Ahmed, Ms. Saba Sadiq, Dr. Sharmila Faruqi, Mr. Sanjay Parwani, Mr. Gul Asghar Khan, Mr. Muhammad Ijaz ul Haq, and Raja Osama Sarwar (Parliamentary Secretary). In addition to the parliamentarians, the session was also attended by Lieutenant General (Retired) Muhammad Ali, HI(M), Secretary of Defence, along with senior officials from the Ministries of Defence, Planning & Development, Finance.
