KHAIRPUR: A woman was allegedly killed by her cousin in Khairpur in a case linked to a family dispute over her marriage, police said. The suspect later surrendered himself to law enforcement authorities following the incident.
According to the initial police investigation, the woman had left her home some time ago and entered into a marriage of her own choice. However, her family did not approve of the marriage and allegedly pressured her husband to separate from her.
Police said that after the separation, the woman was married to another man. Investigators believe that she was unhappy with the arrangement and wanted to return to her first husband.
According to preliminary findings, tensions over her desire to reunite with her first husband led to the fatal incident. Police said the suspect, who is the victim’s cousin, allegedly killed her over the dispute before turning himself in.
Law enforcement officials confirmed that the suspect surrendered to the police after the incident and is currently in custody.
Police said further investigations are underway, and the suspect is being questioned to gather additional details about the circumstances surrounding the case.
