PU Hosts Graduate Conference on Qualitative Research Methodologies

LAHORE: The Institute of Social and Cultural Studies (ISCS) at the University of the Punjab organized a graduate conference titled “Methodological Debates in Qualitative Research.” The conference served as a dynamic platform for academics, researchers, and sociology graduates to engage in meaningful dialogue and networking on various facets of qualitative research.

Key discussions at the event included the philosophical foundations of qualitative research, research design and structure, ethnographic data collection methods, and the practical challenges researchers face in the field. The conference was divided into several sessions and attended by over 200 graduate students, faculty members, and researchers. These sessions provided participants the opportunity to share research findings, exchange ideas, and gain exposure to a diverse range of qualitative research techniques.

In his opening remarks, ISCS Director Prof. Dr. Farhan Navid Yousaf highlighted the importance of such academic forums, stating that the conference would not only enable graduates to present their research but also motivate them by offering multiple perspectives on research methodologies and encouraging intellectually stimulating discussions.

Conference Secretary Prof. Dr. Ahmad Usman announced that this graduate-level conference marks the beginning of a broader vision—an annual international conference that will bring renowned scholars from across the globe to Punjab University.

Guests of Honour, Prof. Dr. Anjum Nasim Sabri, Chairperson of the Doctoral Programme Coordination Committee (DPCC), and Punjab University syndicate member Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nasir, commended the initiative. They termed it a significant and timely effort to promote a stronger research culture in Pakistan and encourage academic excellence among emerging scholars.
