Maryam Nawaz Labels Imran Khan as Mastermind of May 9 Vandalism
Lahore: Maryam Nawaz, the Chief Organiser of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), delivered a speech at an event for PML-N’s religious scholars’ wing in Lahore.
During her address, she took aim at the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and referred to their recent internal conflicts and party desertions as a form of “disintegration.” Maryam expressed her belief that the PTI was regressing to its initial state, with an increasing number of individuals leaving the party.
Accusing Imran Khan, the leader of PTI, of being the “mastermind” behind the May 9 protests, Maryam alleged that he had trained the rioters at his residence in Zaman Park over the past six months.
She criticized Khan for condemning the protests while suggesting that he had a hand in organizing them. Maryam went as far as labeling the PTI as a “terrorist organization” that consistently worked against the best interests of the country.
To support her claims, Maryam pointed to evidence of the PTI’s alleged involvement in the May 9 protests. She cited pictures of Imran Khan’s nephew, Hassaan Niazi, from that day, implying his active participation.
Additionally, Maryam mentioned an alleged audio leak involving PTI core member Dr. Yasmin Rashid. She questioned how political workers would possess the knowledge to create petrol bombs and noted that the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) had announced its support for Imran Khan in the protests.
Maryam’s remarks shed light on the ongoing tensions between PML-N and PTI, with both parties engaging in verbal sparring and accusations. The political landscape in Pakistan continues to witness these heated exchanges as rival factions vie for power and influence.
