Anti-measles campaign kicks off in Punjab

Lahore: Anti-measles and rubella campaigns have kicked off across Punjab. Provincial Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid on Monday launched the measles and rubella campaign 2021.

The health minister while addressing the inauguration ceremony appealed to parents to get their children vaccinated as this campaign will protect our future generations.

“We have been focused on prevention right from day one,” she added.

According to media reports, as many as 46.6 million children between the age of 9 months to 15 years would be vaccinated during the drive. The anti-measles drive will continue till November 27 this month.

“We are taking a number of steps to save children from diseases, ” maintained the health minister.

Rubella can cause life-long complications if it affects pregnant mothers, she added, going on to say “We will continue to take revolutionary measures to save children from diseases”.

Meanwhile, the polio vaccine will also be administered to children below the age of five years, during that campaign.

The campaign will be conducted in public and private health facilities, outreach centers as well as educational facilities, sources said.
