Peshawar High Court Dismisses Sunni Ittehad Council’s Petitions
The Peshawar High Court (PHC) rejected Sunni Ittehad Council’s (SIC) pleas about reserved seats in assemblies on Thursday.
A five-judge panel unanimously made the decision, with Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim delivering the verdict.
Earlier, the court had reserved its decision after lawyers concluded their arguments.
During the hearing, Barrister Ali Zafar apologized for his absence the previous day and explained that PTI candidates must run as independents.
Responding to a question about the number of seats in the National Assembly and provincial assemblies, the SIC lawyer stated the party has 226 seats across assemblies and is entitled to 78 reserved seats.
