KPIC Recommends Inquiry Against E&SE Over Missing Merit List
PESHAWAR – The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Commission (KPIC) has recommended an inquiry against the Directorate of Elementary & Secondary Education Department (E&SE) for failing to provide the merit list of female secondary school teachers (SST) of all zones of KP issued on July 12, 1999.
The decision was made during a meeting of the commission chaired by Chief Information Commissioner, KPIC Mrs. Farah Hamid Khan while deciding on a complaint filed by Mrs. Syeda Rozina Kausar. Mrs. Kausar had requested the E&SE Department to provide a notification regarding the details of female senior school teachers of all zones of KP issued on July 12, 1999 by the said department.
The commission also directed the Public Information Officer (PIO)/ Assistant Director, E&SE Department to make available the said record on the E&SE Department website. The Commission will also approach the Secretary E&SE to conduct an inquiry over non-availability of record with the department.
In other cases, the Commission ordered the Directorate General of Fisheries, Live Stock & Dairy Development, and District Sports Officer Tank to disclose the information requested by citizens Faisal Khan, Syed Ali Abbas, and Muhammad Wasim on their departmental websites as per the section 5 of the KP RTI Act, and also to provide parawise reply of the citizen requested information within seven working days.
Faisal Khan had sought information from the Director General Fisheries the copies of the vacancies advertisement, number of zone wise vacancies, merit calculation formula, final merit list (having test, academic, experience, and higher education marks), office orders, and name of the recruitment committee members.
The KPIC’s recommendations are a significant step towards ensuring transparency and accountability in the government sector. By ordering an inquiry against the E&SE Department and directing the other departments to disclose the requested information, the commission has sent a strong message that the government must be open and accountable to the people
