Case lodged against armed men for torturing transgenders in Rawalpindi

Rawalpindi police registered a case against armed men who can be seen torturing and mistreating a group of transgenders in a viral social media video.

According to the First Information Report registered at Waris Khan police station, the transgender, Saila, said a man came to her on 24th July and asked her to perform at a wedding function and gave an advance payment. The next day the man came and forcibly took her along with her four companions, named in a vehicle.


The man took them to a deserted spot and threatened of dire consequences. Suddenly, around 20-25 men came over them and starting harassing and assaulting them. The transgender claimed the men filmed them and tore their clothes, adding they can easily identify the perpetrators.

Upon insistence, the man identified himself as Arsalan Satti, a resident of Kotli Sattian. The men also snatched the transgender’s money and mobile phones and subjected them to degrading and inhumane treatment.


After the video of the incident went viral, the City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi Muhammad Ahsan Younis took notice of the issue. Police spokesperson said that the teams have been constituted to probe further into the matter.
According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Rawalpindi, the accused in the video have been identified and will be arrested soon.
