WhatsApp introduces new feature allowing users to manage contacts within the app
WhatsApp, owned by Meta, has launched a new feature that would make it easier for users to manage contacts. The feature, called “manage contacts within the app”, will allow users to add and edit contacts without leaving the app.
This new feature is available for some beta testers for Android and will be rolled out to more users in the coming weeks.
Previously, WhatsApp had a shortcut to add contact details, but it would redirect users to their device’s contacts app. With this new feature, users can add and edit contacts directly within the app.
To check if this feature is available, users can open their contacts list within WhatsApp and select the option “New contact”. If they see the section shown in the app, this means that this feature is available to them.
This feature not only saves users time but also helps them stay focused on their current activity on WhatsApp. If users had to switch apps to add a contact or edit its information, they might forget what they were doing in the conversation.
The ability to add and edit contacts within the app is available for some beta testers who have installed the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android. It will be rolling out to more users in the coming days
