Police Official Fires on School Van in Swat, Killing One and Injuring Six

District Police Officer Vows to Bring Accused to Justice; Local Community Demands Transparent Investigation

Swat: A tragic incident occurred today when a police official, identified as Mohammad Alam, fired upon a van of Sangota Public School in the limits of Mangalore police station.

The firing resulted in the death of five-year-old Ayesha and injured a teacher and six schoolgirls, identified as Ruma Hussain, Naheed, Arisha, Horeen Wajiha, Aishal, and Hareem. The injured have been shifted to Saidu Sharif Hospital where they are receiving medical treatment.

The accused officer has been arrested and an investigation is underway. District Police Officer Swat Shafiullah Gandapur has labeled the officer a murderer and promised to bring him to justice.

The officer reportedly claimed that the firing was accidental, while there are also reports that the officer was mentally ill.

Police Official who allegedly fired upon school van is behind bars

Following the tragic incident, social and political personalities of Swat visited the hospital. Regional Police Officer Malakand Nasir Mehmood Satti, along with District Police Officer Swat Shafiullah Gandapur and Deputy Commissioner Swat Irfanullah Wazir, also visited Saidu Sharif Hospital. The hospital has been instructed to provide all necessary facilities to the injured children.

The local public and private school association have strongly condemned the incident and recorded their protest. They demand a transparent investigation of the incident and want the DPO to present the report to the public.
