Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has performed Umrah in the holy month of Ramadan, accompanied by his daughter and PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz and other family members.
The pilgrimage was offered under tight security with special Saudi guards providing protection and protocol during the Tawaaf of the Holy Ka’aba. Maryam Nawaz shared pictures of the occasion on Twitter, showing her and her father in Ihram and an abaya, respectively.

Sharif is visiting the Kingdom at the invitation of the Saudi ruler, and he is currently residing in London for health reasons. Last year, Sharif’s doctors advised him against performing Umrah, but now that his health has improved, sources say he intends to pass the last 10 days of Ramadan in Madina.
