Mob Burns Man to Death in Nankana Sahib
A horrific event took place in Nankana Sahib, Punjab when a mob allegedly burned a man alive after accusing him of blasphemy.
The man had been arrested and was being held at a police station when the incident occurred.
The Station House Officer and other police officers were unable to control the situation and fled the scene.
Residents accused the man was practicing witchcraft by placing his ex-wife’s picture on religious documents.
Punjab Police Officials Suspended After Mob Killing
The Punjab Inspector-General has suspended the Station House Officer and the Circle Deputy Superintendent of Police for failing to prevent the violence.
Legal and departmental action will be taken against those responsible for the tragedy, a statement posted by the Punjab police on Twitter read.
