Child sexual abuse after abduction increased by 91pc from 2019: Report
Islamabad: In Pakistan, eight children stood victim of sexual abuse every day in 2020 in one form or the other. According to the Sahil 2020 report, out of the total 2,960 reported cases in the country, 51 percent victims of child sexual abuse were girls and 49 percent boys. More alarming fact is that the cases of child sexual abuse after abduction have been increased by 91 percent from 2019.
The research reveals that children are most vulnerable to abuse belonging to the age group 6, adding that more than 80 per cent of the abusers are known to children. In most of cases, abusers are either acquaintances (1780) or service providers (109) like teachers, shopkeepers, and drivers.
