NA Committee Seeks Report from Cambridge Board on Leaked Math Paper

The National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Education has requested a detailed report from the Cambridge Board regarding the recent leak of the Mathematics paper. This decision was made during the committee’s meeting, chaired by Acting Chairperson Syeda Amina Batool, where officials from the Ministry of Education, PEIRA, IBCC, and NAVTTC provided briefings on various matters.
During the meeting, committee member Shazia Somro expressed frustration over the ministry’s lack of interest, stating that while committee members attend meetings, neither the Secretary nor the Minister are present, which is highly disappointing.
PEIRA’s former Chairman, Ghulam Ali Mullah, briefed the committee and revealed that 50 unregistered schools had been identified in the federal capital, and inspection teams had been formed to address this issue.
He also stated that, under the law, private schools are required to provide 10% free admissions, and a procedure has been developed to implement this requirement. The committee was informed that out of 1600 schools, 500 have submitted reports regarding free admissions, and out-of-school children will be able to enroll in elite schools for free education by passing a test.
According to Ghulam Ali Mullah, efforts will be made in collaboration with ANF to eliminate drugs from educational institutions.
The meeting also revealed that 17,000 children in 30 Union Councils of the federal capital are currently out of school, highlighting the educational challenges and the need for intervention.
This meeting reflects serious discussions on the country’s educational issues, with government bodies taking steps to improve the education system and expand access to education for children.
