Imran Khan Gets 3-Year Jail and Disqualification in Toshakhana Case

Islamabad: The Toshakhana case took a decisive turn as Additional Sessions Judge Humayun Dilawar handed down a three-year prison sentence to the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) chief and former prime minister. The court also disqualified him from public office for five years on charges of “corrupt practices,” as per Bol News.

The verdict was grounded in the accused’s deliberate provision of false information to the Election Commission of Pakistan. Judge Humayun Dilawar declared that this breach warranted a three-year imprisonment under Section 174 of the Election Act.

The court substantiated that the PTI chairman had been found guilty of corrupt practices for submitting deceitful asset details to the ECP.

The court rejected Chairman PTI’s plea asserting the inadmissibility of the Toshakhana case. Additionally, a fine of Rs0.1 million was imposed on him for withholding information about Toshakhana gifts.

Following the verdict in the Toshakhana reference, police promptly apprehended the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) chairman on the orders of the District and Sessions Court of Islamabad. Additional Sessions Judge Humayun Dilawar directed the Islamabad inspector general of police to ensure the immediate arrest of the former prime minister.

As a precaution, heightened security measures have been initiated in the Zaman Park area of Lahore.
