WhatsApp’s new update allows users to lock certain chats on Android

The WhatsApp application has been frustrating for users who switch between Android and iOS, as they have different layouts.

However, the upcoming version 2.23.8.4 for Android, which is currently rolling out through the Google Play Beta Program, will feature a redesign that moves the navigation bar to the bottom, just like in iOS.

This update is in response to users’ requests for a new look and feel, as the app has had the same aesthetic for some time, leading some to believe that WhatsApp is falling behind.

If the update becomes available for all Android users, the app will have a consistent look across all mobile phones. In addition to this redesign, the latest beta version (2.23.8.5) also introduces a new feature that allows users to lock certain chats with a passcode or fingerprint.

This means that nobody can access the chats in case they use your phone. Locked chats can be accessed by tapping on the “Locked chats” tab, which is located above “Archived” when you tap on the primary “Chats” tab.

Meanwhile, iOS users can also test new features as WhatsApp updated its application to version 23.7.0.72 for those enrolled in Apple’s TestFlight beta program.

The latest feature allows users to keep certain time-restricted messages from disappearing. To keep a message, users can long-press on the chat and select “Keep” along with other options like “Star,” “Reply,” and “Forward.”

Overall, these updates aim to provide a better user experience and bring the Android version in line with the more modern look of the iOS version. However, if you prefer a traditional SMS app for your phone, there are other options available.
