11 suspects arrested in Balochistan couple’s killing

At least 11 people, including a tribal leader, have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the killing of a man and a woman in Balochistan. The incident sparked national outrage after a video of the brutal murder went viral on social media.

The case has been handed over to the Serious Crime Investigation Wing (SCIW) for further investigation.

What happened?

In the video, a group of men is seen dragging a couple out of vehicles and into a desert. They then shoot the man and woman at close range and continue firing at their bodies.

The victims were identified as Bano Bibi and Ihsanullah.

Police say the couple was accused of being in an “immoral relationship,” locally referred to as Karo Kari. A tribal leader allegedly declared them guilty and ordered their execution.

Police action

According to SP Syed Saboor Agha, all 11 suspects, including the tribal leader, have been arrested and will appear before a judicial magistrate.

An FIR was filed by SHO Naveed Akhtar after receiving the video. He and his team traced the location to Sanjidi in the Dagari area, near Quetta. The murder took place three days before Eidul Azha.

The FIR names eight main suspects and mentions 15 unidentified individuals. The case includes charges under:

  • Section 302 (murder)

  • Sections 147–149 (rioting and unlawful assembly)

  • Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997

The police noted that the video was filmed and uploaded to social media to spread fear and panic.

Judicial and political response

Balochistan High Court Chief Justice Rozi Khan Barrech took notice of the case and summoned the chief secretary and inspector general of police to court on July 22, 2025.

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari condemned the murder, calling it an act of gender terrorism. He said the incident should serve as a test case for the Balochistan government.

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif also spoke out, urging people to challenge the unjust systems that allow such violence. He shared the video on X (formerly Twitter), calling for justice.

Public outcry

The double murder has triggered widespread condemnation across Pakistan. Political leaders, civil society, and human rights activists have called the act barbaric and are demanding swift justice and systemic reforms to protect women and marginalized communities.
