Quetta Honor Killing Case

In a major development in the Sanjidi Degari double murder case, DNA samples of the mother of the slain woman have been collected and sent for forensic analysis.
According to the police surgeon, the samples have been dispatched to the Punjab Forensic Science Agency. Earlier, officials had already collected DNA samples of the victim by exhuming the grave as part of the investigation.
The murder case, believed to be an incident of honor killing, involves the death of a woman named Bano Bibi and a man in the Degari area of Quetta district, Balochistan.
In connection with the case, the victim’s mother, Gul Jan Bibi, was presented before the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) today after completing a two-day police remand. The court has now sent her to jail on judicial remand.
In a controversial statement earlier, Gul Jan Bibi had reportedly justified her daughter’s murder, calling it part of Balochi traditions and demanding the release of the accused killers.
The case has drawn widespread attention from human rights activists and the public, raising fresh concerns about the ongoing issue of honor killings and tribal customs that undermine women’s rights in Balochistan.
