Families Forgive Judge’s Son; Bail Granted in Islamabad Crash

In Islamabad, the families of two girls who were killed after being struck by a judge’s son have pardoned the accused, leading to his release on bail.
The development took place on Saturday when the arrested teenager, Abu Zar, was produced before the court following the completion of his four-day physical remand.
Abu Zar, reportedly 16 years old and the son of a judge of the Islamabad High Court, was brought before Judicial Magistrate Shaista Kundi at the District and Sessions Court. During the proceedings, the families of the two deceased girls informed the court that they had forgiven the accused. After their statements were recorded, the court accepted the pardon and approved bail for Abu Zar.
According to the court record, the brother of one of the girls appeared in person to give his statement, while her mother’s testimony was recorded online. The father of the second deceased girl also appeared before the court to provide his statement. Following the reconciliation between the parties, the magistrate ordered that Abu Zar be released on bail.
The case relates to a tragic road accident that occurred on Monday night at Islamabad’s Secretariat Chowk. A white Land Cruiser, reportedly being driven at high speed, struck a scooty carrying two young women. Both victims, identified as Samreen and Tabinda, died as a result of the collision.
