Students Demand PMDC Test Re-Conduct, Inquiry

RAWALPINDI: Thousands of students have appealed to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to take immediate action against the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) and Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU) for their alleged incompetence and corruption. The students claimed that 30 questions in the recent medical entrance test were either incorrect or outside the prescribed PMDC syllabus, jeopardizing their future.

At an emergency press conference held at the Rawalpindi Press Club, student representatives Sardar Umar, Maryam Dildar Abbasi, Ramshah Zahra, Arsalan Ali Cheema, and Gulbaz Khan demanded a re-conduct of the test through a different university. They urged the government to initiate an inquiry and take strict action against those responsible for this alleged negligence, which has put the academic future of over 21,000 students at risk.

A large number of students and concerned parents attended the press conference, where speakers announced plans to file a writ petition in the Islamabad High Court, with the option of escalating the case to the Supreme Court if necessary. The students vowed to continue their peaceful protest within the bounds of the law, seeking justice and accountability.

“The test has affected students from across Pakistan, including Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and all four provinces,” one of the student leaders said. “We demand that this flawed test be re-conducted by another university, and justice be served.”

They also alleged that the influence of the PMDC and SZABMU was so strong that they were denied permission to hold their press conference at the Islamabad Press Club, forcing them to move to Rawalpindi.

The students appealed to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to intervene, investigate the matter at the highest level, and ensure that those responsible for this situation are held accountable.
