Islamabad: The capital administration has decided to enhance its Covid-19 testing capacity up to 3,000 people daily.
According to the release issued by Deputy Commissioner Office Islamabad on Wednesday, 3,000 people will be tested for Covid-19 on a daily basis in parts of Islamabad.
DC Hamza Shafqat said that some delay in the testing was experienced previously, adding that the delay was due to the system overloading.
He said Islamabad is still on the top in its testing capacity as compared to provinces and other federally administered regions, adding that it has conducted 80,000 Covid-19 tests so far.
DC Shafqat said the ICT administration is forced to impose a smart lockdown in other sectors of Islamabad and it’s being done due to non-cooperation of the residents.
He said this during his visit to sector I-8 and I-10. Both the sectors have been sealed today. It is to mention here that the residents of both sectors were given 24 hours time for the purchase of essential commodities.
There was a consistent rise in the number of Covid-19 cases in the sectors, owing to the situation, the ICT administration decided to impose smart lockdown there.
